Layne Energy is a developer of unconventional gas and shale plays. A wholly-owned

Energy was formed in 2004 to operate several coalbed methane plays in the Cherokee
Basin. In 2008, Layne Energy produces 20MMcfd from over 215,000 acres in the Cherokee
Basin and is developing a 55,000 acre play in the New Albany Shale. Layne Energy also
holds a 35-year, 720,000 acre gas concession in the Arauco Basin, Chile through its
subsidiary, Layne Energía, SA.

specialize in operating large scale, multiple-well exploration and exploitation programs
in coalbed methane and shale gas, creating opportunities for value growth in developing
